One of the local department stores has an annual turkey give-away. When I drove by Sunday morning at 6am there was already a line several people deep snaking its way around the store and down the street. It was cold, still dark and hours away from opening. I've never had to line up for a turkey. I've never had to line up for food. I've never had to worry where my next rent cheque was coming from. Sometimes the weight of all of the things I've never had to do overwhelms me and my gratitude slips into guilt. All I did was get born to the right family in the right country, I worry that I won't get my act together in time to make the difference I was meant to make with this life.
